Network Liquidators recently announced acquisition of 1 Nation Technology. They are a source of certified pre-owned Cisco, Extreme Networks, Nortel, Foundry Networks and F5 networking equipment, selling to more than 8,000 customers worldwide. The company provides same-day shipping, replacement, technical support, repair services and warranty protection with leasing and buy-back options. 1 Nation's range of products including Nortel, Avaya, Polycom, Plantronics, GN Netcom and Aastra will be a useful addition.
Founder and CEO Barry Shevlin says the acquisition will provide a one-stop source for low-cost networking, telecommunications and telephone products. With both companies being headquartered in the Tampa Bay area, they anticipate a seamless and efficient transition.
Shevlin founded Network Liquidators five years ago after seeing the potential of the secondary market for used switches, routers and accessories. He was intrigued by a highly-fragmented industry with a relatively low-tech approach to operations, which appeared to have large profit potential. They entered the market with Cisco and Extreme products, later adding other lines. Their website, a catalyst for early success, had worldwide customer response. A result of the demand coming from the European sector was the recent opening of a sales office in south London.
Shevlin says that key factors in their success have been the management team, placing significant emphasis on testing and quality control, and offering a full replacement warranty. With 80 to 90% of sales to end users and specialty industries, they do it with a core of 100 employees. Higher education, healthcare, federal and state agencies are key verticals supported by their recent award of GSA Contractor status.
With 1 Nation they are building out their product line in the convergence market. The phone business was a natural for them and cross-selling opportunities are almost limitless.
