Quintum Technologies announced the publication of a guide on security when deploying Tenor VoIP MultiPath switches and gateways. It addresses security breaches and shows how users are able to secure their Tenors in both H.323 or SIP environments.
Security measures that Tenors have built in to their software code include authorization and authentication with up to 5 layers within configuration phases where passwords are employed. When SIP is in use, Tenors require that the SIP Registrar and Proxy be configured with an IP address to make outbound calls. Incoming calls can also be screened by the server to accept only those calls that are routed through the configured proxy. For networks using H.323, Tenors have an Endpoint Address Directory to configure specific IP addresses, which will either allow or bar calls.
As a precaution, Quintum also recommends using unique, creative and strong passwords at every level. Several websites are listed to assist users in the creation of such passwords.
"With recent concerns regarding security breaches through VoIP gateways, Quintum wanted to provide a simple, easy-to-read guide on how to address the security of your network when using Tenor VoIP gateways and switches," said Chuck Rutledge, Vice President of Marketing.
