Adtran Wi-Fi Enabled Switch-Routers

Adtran, a supplier of networking equipment, has announced a new performance-enhanced business-class Multiservice Access Router. The NetVanta 1335 is a platform that integrates a modular IP access router, 802.11a/b/g Wireless Access Point (WAP), 24-port Layer 2/3 Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch, firewall, VPN appliance and DSU/CSU in a single compact chassis. It also features RapidRoute technology, delivering the performance necessary for IP telephony, corporate connectivity and Internet access with services like QoS, NAT and firewall.

It provides 802.11a/b/g dual radio support and offers features including multiple SSIDs, the ability to disable SSID broadcasts, 802.1x for user authentication and WPA2 support. It also employs Virtual Access Points (VAPs), the equivalent of wireless VLANs that allow customers to securely segment their wireless network just as they would wired.

“As the need for instantaneous information continues to grow so does the importance of wireless connectivity,” said Tim Saunders, vice president, product management, Enterprise Networks Division. “By adding Wi-Fi to our integrated platforms we are increasing the number of applications this product will serve in the SMB space.”
