LiteScape

LiteScape Technologies develops unified communications solutions which securely integrate an organization's business applications with communications infrastructure. This allows users to access and utilize corporate information in real-time on any IP device including telephones, mobiles and desktop computers. They can navigate seamlessly between disparate applications, collaboration tools and communications devices employed on a daily basis.

The goal of UC is to incorporate presence and VoIP to streamline business processes. Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing Rod Hamlin states, "It's an exciting time to be in this space. We've differentiated ourselves because we are completely platform and device agnostic."

Their flagship product, OnCast, bridges existing PBX, IP-PBX and IP phones from Asterisk, Avaya, Cisco, Microsoft and Polycom with hosted or deployed solutions such as Microsoft Office Communication Server, LiveMeeting and Exchange, WebEx and IBM SameTime. With OnCast, a telephone is no longer an isolated communication tool separate from the user's PC or an enterprise's corporate database. It integrates with corporate directories, CRM, ERP, groupware and SaaS applications to provide a variety of communications, directory and broadcast options.

Litescape's Open Source desktop client unifies disparate applications with IP-based communications systems, supporting an array of services including presence, remote call control, directory and application integration, collaboration and conferencing, broadcasting and paging, and authentication. Their Developer Network provides resources and support for customizing and embedding the functionality of OnCast into an enterprise's existing UC solutions.

What does it mean to be platform and device agnostic? As an example, Hamlin explains that OnCast provides Microsoft presence on an Avaya, Cisco or Polycom IP phone. The device and platform are irrelevant.

"We don't compete with Avaya, Cisco or Microsoft on the client side. Our core business is to unify directory presence and collaboration, add functionality and integrate these features into an IP system. With the open source desktop client, larger integrators and service providers can utilize extended functionality with hosted models for the SMB."

He adds, "Our main focus is the large enterprise, but our scalability reaches the low end. OnCast Collaboration Appliance has all the functionality of direct broadcast and presence for 400 seats and under."

The company's Premier Partner Program provides training and support focused on resellers and systems integrators. Registered partners have access to selling tools, demo capabilities and product information from an online portal.
