Whaleback Systems has introduced two major new features to the CrystalBlue Voice Service, which provides SMBs with access to VoIP functionality they can leverage via a broadband cable or DSL connection. Road Warrior Functionality allows businesses to seamlessly extend office communications to employees on the road or working from home irrespective of location, underlying access network or endpoint device. It allows them to connect multiple offices, mobile employees and telecommuters as if they were all located under a single roof.
It includes the ability to provide members of the distributed workforce with a second IP telephone or PC-based softphone that mirrors the behavior of their desktop phone including custom settings and preferences. This provides remote or traveling employees with all the power of their desktop phone and allows them to transparently work from home.
The functionality also allows traveling workers to access all the features of CrystalBlue Voice Service's premises-based SMB 1500 IP PBX from Wi-Fi locations. A user can just log into a hotspot and rely on a laptop-based softphone from Whaleback to make and receive telephone calls and leverage the functionality of the PBX.
The OrcaDial feature enhances productivity by delivering click-to-dial functionality across multiple applications. A user can highlight a phone number in a desktop application and hit the F10 key to establish a call. Unlike traditional click-to-dial features that work only with contact directories, it works with diverse desktop applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint as well as Adobe PDF files. It also allows users to click on phone numbers displayed on webpages or email clients to initiate calls.
