Quick Connect Service Enables SIP Trunking Service Providers to Outsource Testing to Reduce Costs and Expand Markets

SANTA CLARA, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Edgewater Networks today announced the launch of Quick Connect, the first professional service offering PBX interoperability certification for SIP Trunking service providers using Edgewater’s Enterprise Session Border Controllers. The certification service enables service providers to utilize Edgewater Networks’ extensive interoperability labs rather than investing in conducting testing internally.

Quick Connect provides a formal certification process for ensuring the proper operation of SIP based PBXs with the service provider network. It consists of more than 60 individual tests certifying leading PBX systems from providers such as Avaya, Asterisk, Barracuda Networks, Cisco, Microsoft, Mitel, NEC, Nortel, Panasonic, ShoreTel, Siemens, Talkswitch, Toshiba and more. The service includes configuration guides for Edgewater Networks’ EdgeMarc series of Enterprise Session Border Controllers and certified PBXs, as well as support for Ethernet, PRI and analog testing.

The explosive growth of SIP trunking adoption by the enterprise represents a significant revenue opportunity for service providers. In order to fully capitalize on this opportunity, however, service providers must ensure the proper operation of their network through testing with an increasingly broad number of PBX manufacturers. This testing is capital intensive, labor intensive and substantially limits the total available market until complete. The Quick Connect service reduces time to market, frees up valuable internal resources and expands the total available market for SIP trunking service providers.

The Quick Connect service offers maximum flexibility to service providers and is available as a one-time, single certification or in groups of certifications that can be used as needed over specific periods of time.

“SIP is great framework but does not guarantee interoperability due to different interpretations of the standard by manufacturers,” said Dave Norman, Chief Executive Officer of Edgewater Networks, Inc. “Quick Connect provides customized testing against the unique infrastructure of each service provider with industry leading voice and video equipment.”

The EdgeMarc suite of Enterprise Session Border Controllers act as a demarcation point for cloud communications services to reduce costs while improving call quality, security, and the end-user experience. They provide all of the features needed to deliver business class VoIP services to the enterprise including:

  • A VoIP and video aware NAT/Firewall
  • Protocol mediation for interoperability of VoIP and video devices
  • Active VoIP line testing
  • Call quality monitoring
  • Survivability
  • QoS

The EdgeMarc Enterprise Session Border Controller is a part of a comprehensive solution that includes the EdgeView VoIP Support System and EdgeView Reports. The EdgeView VoIP Support system is used to troubleshoot network impairments that negatively affect VoIP quality. EdgeView is also used to manage IP phones, switches and other devices as well as automate provisioning using a customer-self installation model for many types of hosted service offerings. EdgeView Reports provides network operators with valuable performance information needed to properly maintain today’s converged networks.
