Sip trunking is all over the market, but getting secure and reliable connections takes some work. Contact centers are one of the organizations that can benefit from SIP trunking connections. One of the values of SIP trunking over TDM (T1, PRI) connections is the ability to expand and contract the number of voice channels quickly especially for seasonal traffic variations.
AudioCodes has established a strategic alignment with Genesys around all-IP contact centers. AudioCodes is now offering its line of Enterprise Session Border Controllers (E-SBC) that are based on the AudioCodes Mediant hybrid platform. This platform enables users to adopt a phased approach to migrating from TDM to IP, to spread out the project costs and to mitigate concerns and risks by supporting a hybrid TDM/IP connectivity mode on the same device.
This phased capability is very important to the contact center since it is unlikely that any large communications center will totally move to SIP trunking and not have any TDM connections most likely as failover configuration. Further, many contact centers would prefer to experiment with SIP trunking before eliminating all of their TDM connections.
The Genesys certification joins the existing gateway and IP phone certifications for AudioCodes products. This positions AudioCodes as a complete connectivity partner for Genesys, their systems integrators and reseller partners.
As part of a joint effort to help contact center customers adopt SIP trunking going forward, AudioCodes and Genesys have established a certification lab in North Carolina. This lab is capable of simulating an entire distributed Genesys contact center environment and offering SIP trunk ongoing validation and certification services.
“AudioCodes Mediant E-SBC architecture is closely aligned with Genesys strategy to migrate legacy call centers to our state-of-the-art and standards-based SIP contact center software”, said Richard Barton, Director, Product Management, at Genesys. “AudioCodes E-SBC plays an important role in securing connectivity to SIP trunking and remote agents, and provides the ability to integrate SIP server with mobile devices. In addition, we see E-SBCs playing an increasingly important role in providing connectivity to highly distributed businesses.”
“We are pleased to achieve Genesys certification for our E-SBCs,” said Sharone Ben-Levi, VP Marketing and Business Development North America at AudioCodes. “This important certification demonstrates our vision to provide an easy migration path from legacy TDM environments to pure SIP services using a common platform. Together with our unique SIP Select gateway position and our IP Phones and Session Experience Manager, we are simplifying Genesys customers’ and integrators’ connectivity and quality monitoring needs.”
