Level 3, headquartered in Broomfield, Colorado, has created a network that serves as a foundation for the communications services of the 21st century by providing, among other things, information transmission over a fiber optic network and media delivery over a content delivery network. In the fall of 2011, Level 3 and Global Crossing joined forces resulting in a new integrated network uniting Level 3’s U.S. and European footprint with Global Crossing’s extensive international, intercity network. Continuing to operate under the name of Level 3, this new company features more than 450 core network markets in North America, EMEA, Latin America and Asia, as well as a total of ~100,000 fiber miles.
Doug Green, Publisher of Telecom Reseller, speaks with Bill Long, Senior Director, Product Management – Enterprise Voice Systems, while at Enterprise Connect 2012 about the new company: what they do, who they serve, their recent announcement to partner with Avaya (see press release at http://www.telecomreseller.com/?p=22787 ), their work with Microsoft Lync, and entry into the contact center space.
