Miercom praises NEC’s UCE System for its centralized administration of data and voice communications

Irving, Texas – August 18, 2011 – NEC Corporation of America’s (NEC) Unified Communication for Enterprise (UCE) and UNIVERGE® Sphericall systems have earned a Performance Verified award from independent test lab center Miercom. NEC, a leading provider and integrator of advanced communication and IT solutions, was recognized by Miercom’s Performance Verified program for security and resiliency, flawlessly completing failover testing and maintaining 100 percent availability while under attack.

The NEC Sphericall system is a feature rich, software-based unified communications platform for the enterprise that uses an IP-based architecture to join several types of communications, such as voice, presence, voice mail, softphone, desktop video conferencing and maximize application integration, media progression and navigability. During testing, Miercom noted that NEC Sphericall maintained 100% availability during IPv4, ICMPv4 protocol mutation attacks and properly blocked more than 42,981 protocol mutations from 298 variants in two protocol suites. During failover tests, the system handled 16 calls per second with no failures and completed 1.4 million calls and registered 48,000 users.

NEC’s UCE suite of applications ends communications overload by combining multiple communication tools and devices into one powerful, easy to manage solution that empowers users to dictate how, when and where they can be reached. With UCE, information is centralized, messages are in one inbox, and real-time communications are easier to manage. During testing, Miercom noted that NEC’s UCE system transfers seamlessly between a variety of endpoints and types of communication, such as instant messaging, voice and video conferencing. It is also fully integrated and provides real-time synchronization between NEC’s UCE Manager (UNIVERGE MA4000), external, and internal applications.

During the lab testing, commissioned by NEC, both UCE and Sphericall were validated while running on NEC’s Intel® Xeon®-based Express5800/R320a Fault Tolerant servers for added high availability and business continuity.
