Aastra Clearspan provides enterprises with unified communications capabilities. Its features improve productivity and allow employees to communicate anywhere, anytime, on any device. However, to provide accurate and reliable E911 support, a solution is needed that seamlessly integrates with the deployment.

911 Enable provides a solution certified with Clearspan. It consists of two components, the Emergency Gateway and Emergency Routing Service (optional). EGW is an on-site appliance that automates and simplifies E911 management for IP telephony systems. It automatically discovers the locations of IP phones on the network via layer 2 discovery. This ensures that when 911 is dialed emergency responders receive the precise location of the caller, saving time when seconds count.

Other features include a suite of on-site security desk routing and notification tools, 911 call recording, support for shared call appearance and hotelling, 911 misdial protection, active test mode and support for multiple dial plans. It is easy to implement and available as a hardware appliance for large enterprises or virtualized appliance for small and medium businesses.

ERS is a monthly subscription service that provides E911 connectivity to more than 6,000 Public Safety Answering Points across the US and Canada. It ensures that when 911 is dialed the call and the caller’s location are delivered to the appropriate PSAP, helping comply with state and local legislation. It is useful for enterprises with multiple locations served by different PSAPs and work-at-home employees or teleworkers, as it eliminates the need to purchase and maintain regional PS-ALI accounts, local gateways and dedicated 911 trunks.

By implementing EGW and ERS with Clearspan, organizations can take advantage of unified communications capabilities while meeting E911 obligations.
