MEDFORD, N.J.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The integration of smartphones into our daily lives and the proliferation of applications for mobile devices has heightened user-expectations for the speed and availability of service. That has created both challenges and opportunities for the speech technology industry.

A distinguished panel of industry experts has been assembled for a timely discussion of “Mobility – A Game-Changer for Speech” (Tuesday, August 9) at the 2011 SpeechTEK Conference and Exposition at the Hilton New York. (www.speechtek.com)

Four of the speech industry’s leading voices will discuss “Mobility – A Game-Changer for Speech” at the 9:00 AM Tuesday keynote.

Bruce Pollock, Vice President for Strategic Growth and Planning, West Interactive; Mike Phillips, co-founder & Chief Technology Officer, Vlingo; Mazin Gilbert, Executive Director of Technical Research, AT&T and Vlad Sejnoha, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Nuance Communications, will discuss how mobile devices are dramatically changing how customers interact with business.

The panel of industry experts will explore how new speech-enabled applications will be used in the future on mobile devices and how voice-user interfaces will be integrated with graphic interfaces.

The panel will examine customer acceptance of voice technology and the role speech-enabled applications play in building effective and efficient customer interfaces. As more people adopt mobile devices as their primary communications tool, voice automation becomes a more critical component.

And, as the title of the keynote suggests, a potential game-changer for many businesses if applied effectively.

Now in its 17th year, the annual SpeechTEK Conference and Exposition is the speech technology industry’s largest showcase of best-practices and innovations. Corporate leaders and decision-makers, customer service managers, voice interaction designers and developers and end-users will convene August 8-10 at the New York Hilton for three days of seminars and a trade show featuring the latest products and applications using speech.

David Gergen, senior political analyst for CNN and adviser to four United States Presidents, is the Monday, August 8, keynote speaker on how businesses can avoid the communications mistakes of government leaders.

SpeechTEK is co-located at the Hilton New York with the annual CRM Evolution Conference and Exposition.
