Q:  My wireless carrier provides our invoice through an online portal.  Can I still receive paper invoices for our records?

A:  Yes, wireless and wireline carriers can provide both paper and electronic invoices.  They are required to provide at least one invoice format to subscribers free of charge; however, they frequently charge for delivering invoices in more than one billing format.  You can negotiate to reduce or eliminate monthly billing media charges if multiple formats are desired.  Before you negotiate to receive paper invoices in addition, check the portal to determine if a bill image is available for printing or electronic archival.

Q:  I recently negotiated a contract condition with my carrier that guarantees 100 percent billing accuracy.  Do I still need to audit my invoices?

A:  Congratulations!  This type of contract clause offers value to you as a customer and establishes intent for the carrier to confirm charge accuracy before they invoice you.  It is highly recommended to perform periodic invoice-to-contract validations to ensure the intent of billing accuracy is realized.  Monitoring compliance of the billing accuracy clause enables you to confirm accuracy, identify issues and hold your carrier accountable for out-of-scope events.
