NEC Responds With Assistance

Tokyo, March 16, 2011 – In a statement today, NEC Corporation (NEC) said it would like to extend its sincere sympathy and condolences to all who were personally affected by the recent earthquake and tsunami in Northern Japan.

NEC has established an Emergency Operational Task Force on March 11 headed by Dr. Nobuhiro Endo, President of NEC Corporation, in order to assist the communities, businesses and NEC members impacted by this disaster. Under the direction of the task force, the NEC Group is devoting its full attention to supporting the recovery of the ICT infrastructure in the affected areas and working to restore operations among impacted group companies that operate in these regions.

NEC has announced that its group companies will donate funds, computers, telecommunications equipment and IT network equipment totaling more than 100 million Japanese yen to help relief and recovery efforts in communities affected by the earthquake and tsunami. Additionally, in order to save electricity, the NEC Group will refrain from nonessential use of electricity while supplies remain short.

The NEC Group and its employees express their sincere condolences for those personally impacted by the earthquake and hope for the fast recovery of the people and areas affected by the disaster.
